Although Sri Lanka is yet to be discovered by golfing enthusiasts, golf has been a popular sport here since the British colonial era. Today the island has four world-class 18-hole golf courses. What’s special about these courses are that they are spread across the country, each with a stunning backdrop, providing an opportunity to experience the diversity between each – perfect for golfers. The capital, Colombo is the home to one of the oldest golf courses, the Royal Colombo Golf Club. This pioneering course was set during British rule in one of the city’s suburbs with close proximity to the city centre making it easily accessible.

The hill country is home to two picturesque golf courses, the Victoria Golf and Country Club located in the outskirts of Kandy, and the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, the older counterpart, located in the hills in the tea country.
