Water Gardens

Water Gardens takes you back in time when Sigiriya Rock Fortress was the Kingdom of King Kashyapa, who ruled Sri Lanka from 473 to 495 CE, with its exuberant works of art and beautiful water gardens. Thoughtfully designed private spaces, delicate and elegant interiors together with handpicked crockery, artworks and furnishings, are a reflection of the luxuries the property offers to its guests.

The hotel has a large main pool near the bar, with lounge chairs and umbrellas, which invite you to relax and enjoy the tropical weather when you aren’t visiting the nearby attractions. The bar boasts great views of Sigirya making it a great place to enjoy drinks at sunset. There are also several activities available at the hotel including bike riding, archery, billiards and a gymnasium for those that like to stay fit while you are on holidays or for active teenagers if you are travelling with your family in Sri Lanka.

The hotel also offers a spa that is open throughout the day and into the night until 9pm. We love the range of massages they provide from Shiatsu to Ayurvedic and Swedish massage, as well as the scrubs – especially the sandalwood and turmeric body scrub! So make sure you take some time to pamper yourself during your stay!

All meals are served in the main restaurant by the side of the pool. Breakfast and dinner are served in the verandah of the main restaurant. However, if you wish to stay indoors the main restaurant has spacious dinning inside as well. Guests can enjoy both Sri Lankan cuisine and continental cuisine. A number of options on the a la carte menu are suitable even for a picky eater. Breakfast is served al a carte and we feasted on the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast that included a delicious chicken curry, dal and coconut roti – a perfect start to our day! We found all the meals we had at Water Gardens to be delicious, especially the Sri Lankan cuisine. Sous chef Sudheera promises to serve you authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.

We love Water Gardens for its proximity to Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the views of the rock from the hotel. The layout of the hotel, with its expansive gardens and waterways, and individual villas also allow you to relax with a sense of space and privacy, surrounded by Sri Lanka’s beautiful natural landscape. You can easily spend a few days here, relaxing and exploring the sites of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle.
