Landing at Colombo's international airport, you will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Colombo is the largest city in Sri Lanka and its commercial capital. Here you can discover the contrasts of the old and the new of Sri Lanka: newly built high-rise hotels and colonial mansions, street bazaars and modern shopping centres, fancy cars and motor-rickshaws. Stay in Colombo's iconic landmark - the Galle Face Hotel. This more than 150-year-old heritage hotel sits opposite the charming Galle Face Green and is one of the country's best luxury hotels.
After breakfast enjoy a morning at the Royal Colombo Golf Club - the oldest club in Sri Lanka. Although the club is situated in the heart of the city, it is an exquisite and tranquil environment to tee off. The course consists of 18 holes over about 96 acres of lush green grasses and tall shady pine trees. In the afternoon - explore Colombo with a city tour including a guided walk along Galle Face Green. See the newly refurbished Dutch Hospital complex and drive past the bustling Pettah local market.
Travel to Kandy, the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Upon arrival check into our hotel, with views over Victoria Reservoir and the Victoria Golf Course. In the evening, visit the much-revered Buddhist Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.
Start your day with a yoga session at your hotel, should you wish, which is offered in the peaceful atmosphere of the gardens. After breakfast enjoy a round of golf at the Victoria Golf Club - the country's newest club. Inaugurated in 1999, this 18-hole course is set within a 517-acre site and is one of the finest championship golf courses in Sri Lanka. The fairways are a little narrow in the hilly terrain in the countryside. Majestic hard wood trees and avenues of coconuts give the course an aura of old-world charm in the tropics, whilst natural outcrops of rocks are a distinctive feature and considered a hazard of the course. Afternoon at leisure. Relax in the hotel garden, order a pot of tea or have the butler fix you your favourite cocktail or gin & tonic.
Board a train for a scenic 4-hour rail journey to Nuwara Eliya. Grey stone cliffs and rivers flash past your window while the train winds its way around tea covered mountains. A most comfortable and pleasant journey! Transfer to your hotel upon arrival, the Grand Hotel, an elegant colonial-style hotel surrounded by landscaped gardens. In the afternoon, discover Nuwara Eliya with an afternoon of sightseeing including a drive around Lake Gregory and a stop in the busy city centre.
Play golf among the misty hills of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. Golfers consider this course to be one of the finest and certainly one of the most picturesque in Asia. Afternoon at leisure.
Drive to your next destination this morning, Haputale. Perched at the southern edge of the Hill Country, the largely Tamil town of Haputale clings to a long, narrow mountain ridge with the land falling away steeply on both sides. Tea estates blanket the hillsides, punctuated by graceful planters’ bungalows, all enveloped in a damp and heavy climate that must have made the British settlers feel right at home. Your accommodation here is a beautiful tea estate founded almost 150 years ago. Enjoy 2 nights at this elegantly restored planters bungalow, which is steeped in history and pays homage to the traditional lifestyle of the tea planters of the past. In the afternoon you may like to take a walk through the tea gardens and soak up life on this working plantation.
Start your day with a picnic breakfast on the tea plantation. Your hotel will prepare you a hamper of goodies - including freshly baked breads, fruit and sparkling wine. Take your hamper and find yourselves a perfect spot to start the day enjoying the beautiful location and a delicious breakfast. After your picnic breakfast, visit Dambetenna Tea Factory and Lipton's Seat. The afternoon is at leisure. You will be served high tea in the gardens at your planters' bungalow.

Enjoy a round of golf at the resort this morning. This is Sri Lanka's premier 18-hole golf course, set amid a vast coconut palm plantation within the resort itself, offering spectacular views and distinctive challenges for both casual and seasoned players. The beautifully landscaped par-70 course takes you on a memorable golf experience through three landscaped zones, each with its own character. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities.
Enjoy another round of golf this morning at Shangdi-La's Golf and Country Club. Relax this afternoon at your resort.
Depart for Galle this morning. This UNESCO World Heritage city is a must visit destination in Sri Lanka for any tourist. It stands on a peninsula and has a fine natural harbour with excellent defences, and gorgeous views of the ocean. The highlight of this area is the Galle Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a remarkable fortification that was built by Portuguese colonists in the 17th century, and was inhabited by the Dutch and English during their colonial eras. Although several villas and buildings have been renovated into shops, cafes and hotels today, the Fort maintains an aura of old world times. Stay inside Galle Fort itself in a recently refurbished heritage property and villa. Late in the afternoon, discover the history of Galle on a gentle guided walking tour led by our expert local character and guide.
This morning visit Lunuganga, the garden house of Sri Lanka's globally renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa. Take a tour of the estate and enjoy lunch by the gardens should you wish. Returning to your hotel in Galle, afternoon at leisure.
