Arrive Colombo – Sri Lanka’s biggest city and also its capital. Transfer to the iconic Galle Face Hotel, a 150-year-old heritage hotel and landmark of the city.
Explore Colombo today with a gentle walking tour and city sightseeing. First, our resident expert guide, Mark Forbes, will introduce the buildings, bustling markets, and street snacks of Colombo on a city walk filled with anecdotes and stories. Later, a city tour will highlight Colombo’s major landmarks from Galle Face Green to the Old Parliament and the city’s temples.
Drive to Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle and visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla, considered to be the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in the country and one of Sri Lanka’s eight UNESCO world heritage sites. In the afternoon, enjoy an optional village walk or bullock cart ride from the hotel.
Rise early to visit the Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock. Make the energetic climb to the top of the rock for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside should you wish and marvel on the way up at the breathtaking cave frescoes. Afternoon at leisure.
