1Arrive Colombo

Today you will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel in Colombo, a drive of 45 minutes.

2Colombo

Explore Colombo’s upcoming art scene with an expert artist and local resident. Enjoy the opportunity to linger through a diverse array of displays in art galleries to old temples that showcase centuries old treasures and contemporary works. A truly unique way to experience Sri Lanka’s capital city. This afternoon, a chance to learn more about the world or art and design in Sri Lanka with a light-hearted conversion with a local architect over a cup of Ceylon tea/coffee.

3Colombo

This morning is for relaxation: go for a dip in the pool or curl up with a good book. Later, you will be driven to Paradise Road Gallery café, once the office of Geoffrey Bawa, and now converted to an upmarket restaurant with alfresco dinning. Spend some time enjoying a meal. Later this afternoon visit Geoffrey Bawa’s Town House, filled with an introspective assemblage of courtyards, verandas and open spaces creating a haven in the midst of the city of Colombo surrounded by busyness.

4Colombo - Dambulla

Drive to the Cultural Triangle this morning, stopping along the at Dambulla Cave Temple. Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site consists of five caves in one of the largest and best-preserved complexes of beautifully painted statues surrounded by equally beautiful wall paintings. Later, continue to your accommodation, another wonderful creation of renowned Geoffrey Bawa. Spend the remainder of your day at leisure.

5Dambulla

Early this morning visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress: one of Sri Lanka’s biggest attractions. The climb consists of 1200 steps, a doable climb by stopping to catch some breath. This 5th century BC marvel is recognized as the 8th World Wonder with its still remaining structures of water gardens, frescos and stunning panoramic views from the summit. All worth the climb. This afternoon visit the ruins of the medieval kingdom of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa signifies the matrimony of Sri Lankan and Indian architecture. Ponder on the great giant granite statues at Gal Viharaya and walk through the ruins of royal palaces, stupas and ancient ruins.

6Dambulla - Kandy

Drive to Kandy, the last kingdom of Sri Lanka before British rule. En route visit another ancient architectural wonder Nalanda Gedige where Dravidian architectural influence is prevalent in a Buddhist temple. On arrival in Kandy visit the sacred Buddhist Temple of Tooth before heading to a relaxed afternoon in your luxury boutique accommodation in the hills of suburban Kandy.

7Kandy - Nuwara Eliya - Kandapola

This morning board a train from Kandy to the tea country on a scenic train ride. Enjoy the panoramic views and fresh mountainous, all too good to miss out. On arrival drive to your boutique accommodation. Immerse yourself in the delightful surroundings of your accommodation and be at leisure.

8Kandapola

Opt to go on a short hike this morning to view the amazing architectural creation of the Nine Arch Bridge, reminiscent of the magnificent colonial railway structures built by British colonisers. Head to the dry deciduous forest of Yala today for your wildlife encounters. Stay close to the Yala National Park in an upmarket tented accommodation. Rise early today for your second wildlife and leopard safari in Yala. Today explore the beautiful gardens of Bawa’s country home, the great architect himself developed over 40 years until his death. Explore this unique space on a guided tour. Later visit Bevis Bawa’s Brief Garden, a harmonious and intimate design that were incorporated patiently by Bevis over years that yet remains spectacularly beautiful.

19Bentota - Colombo - Depart Colombo

Today transfer to the Colombo International airport for your departure transfer.
